# Credits **ToastAmp** is a free radio-style player for macOS: pick a genre and a random curated stream plays, in a player that wears classic Winamp skins. ToastAmp is an **unofficial** client. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, any radio station, or Winamp. Every mix, live set and station belongs to its creator or broadcaster; ToastAmp plays streams without downloading them, shows the creator in every title, and "Copy Link" always points back to the original page. This file is the human-readable list. The licence notices that must travel with the app, generated and checked by `scripts/check-notices.sh`, are in [`THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md); the file-by-file record of everything ported or adapted is [`PROVENANCE.md`](PROVENANCE.md). ## The people whose streams you hear The curated catalog (`catalog/feed.json`) credits the DJ, label, channel or station of every entry, and the app shows that credit in the marquee and the playlist. Internet radio stations are listed with their homepages; many were found through [radio-browser.info](https://www.radio-browser.info). ## Code ToastAmp builds on ToastAmp is built fresh and forks nothing, but it stands on these projects, whose notices are kept in the files that use them (Geiss, studied only, has no code in ToastAmp): | Project | By | What ToastAmp takes | Licence | |---|---|---|---| | [Webamp](https://github.com/captbaritone/webamp) | Jordan Eldredge and contributors | The skin sprite table, text-font lookup, skin file matching and parser semantics, marquee and window-snapping rules, test fixtures. Webamp's museum screenshots are also the reference for ToastAmp's skin-fidelity metric. | MIT | | [Bitamp](https://github.com/ryanromanov/Bitamp) | Ryan Romanosky and contributors | The ZIP reader, layout tables, docking rules, EQ slider geometry and the drawing routines behind the ToastAmp Dark skin | MIT | | [wamp](https://github.com/wishval/wamp) | Valerii Bakalenko | The structure of the ini, viscolor and pledit parsers; ZIP size caps | MIT | | [macamp](https://github.com/andrehickmann/macamp) | André Hickmann Kuschnereit | A tolerant region.txt parser and the offscreen-snapshot approach (studied as references) | MIT | | [MacAmp](https://github.com/hfyeomans/MacAmp) | Hank Yeomans | The 17 EQ presets and `.eqf` codec, the visualiser's DSP pattern, ring-buffer tests, screen clamping | MIT | | [lodash](https://github.com/lodash/lodash) | OpenJS Foundation and contributors | The `deburr` letter table that folds accented titles into the skin font | MIT | | [Geiss](https://github.com/geissomatik/geiss) | Ryan Geiss | The idea behind the Liquid Light visualiser scenes: last frame's picture warped along a flow map, faded, with a waveform and effects (chasers, solar particles, shade bobs, nuclide) drawn in, coloured through a palette. Studied as a reference; no code taken | BSD-3-Clause | ## The engine - **[mpv](https://mpv.io)** (LGPL-2.1-or-later) and **[FFmpeg](https://ffmpeg.org)** (LGPL-3.0-or-later build) decode every stream, together with the libraries listed in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`, prebuilt by **[MPVKit](https://github.com/mpvkit/MPVKit)** 1.0.0. - **[yt-dlp](https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp)** (Unlicense) finds the audio for YouTube, SoundCloud and Mixcloud streams. ToastAmp downloads it from yt-dlp's official releases on first launch; it is never bundled or redistributed. - **[QuickJS-NG](https://github.com/quickjs-ng/quickjs)** (MIT) is bundled as `qjs`, yt-dlp's fallback JavaScript runtime. ## Skins - **AndAmp Dark**, **AndAmp Light** and **AndAmp Spot** by **Mattix** (), made for [AndAmp](https://github.com/mattijsf/andamp), ship unmodified under the [Creative Commons Attribution 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) licence. The AndAmp name and icon are not licensed; they are named here only to credit the artist. - **ToastAmp Dark**, the default skin, is original art generated by ToastAmp's `skingen`, using drawing routines adapted from Bitamp. It contains no Nullsoft or Bitamp artwork. - **100 classic skins from the [Winamp Skin Museum](https://skins.webamp.org)** (by Jordan Eldredge) ship in the Skins ▸ Skin Museum submenu, unmodified. Each is the work of its author, credited by its museum file name in the menu and the About window; none carries a licence statement, and they are not covered by ToastAmp's licence. Some show third-party trademarks, characters or photographs, which belong to their owners. The list is `Fixtures/skins/museum.json`. - "Get more skins…" opens the museum too. Skins you add yourself are yours to keep locally; ToastAmp never redistributes them. ## Trademarks Winamp is a trademark of its owner; YouTube, SoundCloud and Mixcloud are trademarks of theirs. ToastAmp uses these names only to say what it plays and works with ("plays classic Winamp skins"); its name, icon and default skin are its own. ## Licence ToastAmp is free to use but not open source: © 2026 Ali Parr, all rights reserved ([`LICENSE`](LICENSE)). Its pull audio output (`Sources/SudampAO`) is LGPL-2.1-or-later, and the libraries it includes keep their own licences ([`THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md)). ToastAmp is based in part on the work of the FreeType Team.
